Although job growth has slowed for a sixth consecutive month, North Carolina continues to be the place to find work, overtaking Texas for the top spot, according to the Paychex | IHS Markit Small Business Employment Watch. On the other side of the job market — schooling — Gene Marks says that the benefits provided in SECURE 2.0 to roll leftover 529 plan funds into a Roth IRA without penalty are key and businesses should consider providing 529s to employees. Gene Marks discusses additional changes to Form I-9 that are intended to make completing this required employment eligibility form a simpler process. In other news impacting businesses, Visa announced it will send auditors to businesses to ensure they are not passing along inflated surcharges to customers that break the terms of agreement.
